Alan Gimenez was convicted of second-degree murder in connection to the death of his daughter. His daughter was born a very sick child, constantly returning to the hospital with multiple medial problems. When she was seven weeks old, she died, and the medical examiner found what has become known as the triad of symptoms: a subdural hematoma (blood within the outer layer of the brain); retinal hemorrhages (bleeding behind the eyes); and a swollen brain. At the time, the triad was always associated with abuse, but is now known to be associated with many sicknesses and even the pressure from delivery and vitamin deficiency.
In 2015, Alan was released on parole after 24 years of wrongful incarceration. For more information about Alan’s case go to:
